The foundation is one of the most important parts of the makeup, and the care should start as soon as choosing the correct item to be bought. Each woman has a one-of-a-kind skin; therefore, it is essential to choose the right type of product for your type. Keep in mind that what might work well for a friend, might be a disaster for your face!
What is the best kind for me?
There is a great number of different foundations, and each one has its features. Some of the most common are:
Liquid foundation: This is the most suitable for women who have a skin free of oiliness, shining and acne. This foundation will make your face look lighter and brighter for several hours, according to the amount of the product that is used. It will not cover any imperfections you might have, however, so it is not recommended to be used as concealer for dark circles and other stains, but only for skins that are dry.
Transparent foundation: Just like it happens with the liquid one, the transparent foundation won’t cover imperfections on the face; its job is just to keep the sweat away, like moistened wipes. Many women wear the transparent foundation during the day, after already been wearing other kinds of products, since it will not add any coloring to the face. In other word, it is just an “enhancement”.
High-cover foundation: It has an opaque setting, meaning that it should conceal all the shining and highlighting of the face for several hours, but must be applied more than once a day should the face be exposed to the sun in high temperatures, since the oiliness tends to bring back the shining. One of the high-cover foundations is Dermacol, perfect for women whose faces show imperfections that need to be concealed. It will work for disguising scars, tattoos and other marks, but keep in mind that, since it conceals everything, it is not ideal for anyone who intends to use the highlighter short after, but for people who has an oily skin.
Stick foundation: The stick foundation should be a good choice for anyone who as a “mixed” skin, both dry and oily at the same time, since it can cover stains and expression lines caused by aging. It must be applied with a sponge or brush in order to not cause accumulation on the pores.
Powder foundation: The powder foundation can be used on oily, mixed and dry kinds of faces and must be applied with a brush. This product is a mixture of the high-cover foundation and the compact powder, which ensures the concealing of every imperfection, especially on highlighting and acne – it is considered a “miraculous product” for skins with many imperfections.
How to use the foundation correctly
The foundation is essential to any well-done makeup, once its job is to ensure that the skin is smooth, in addition to setting it better. The first step is to clean and hydrate the skin before starting to apply. If the foundation does not include sunscreen, is important to apply one also before getting started.
It is necessary that the foundation have the correct texture for every kind of skin and a tone similar to the one of your face; therefore, the best body part to test it is below the cheeks, close to the chin.
Never test it on your hands, since they rarely have the same tone of the skin of the face. Soon after cleaning the skin, apply small drops of the foundation through your face, neck and ears. Spreading the foundation with a brush or sponge will help the effect of the make-up to look much more natural and uniform.
Start with the forehead, the nose and the chin and make your way up to the cheeks, spreading the product from one side to the other and then from the upper to the lower parts. If you feel the need, use a wipe to remove the excess of foundation. Enjoy yourself!
